I realize you forum vets must get this question 10000000000000000000 times per day, but it has to be asked.

I'm getting some kind of .22 LR rifle when ever I get enough money, and I'm gonna need a scope to go along with it. Since I'm really strapped for cash when it comes to these things, it's gonna have to be under $200. I'm just gonna be shooting squirrels and s*** with it at distances of under 80 yards, so I don't need much in the way of magnification or anything.

Any help?

Nikon Prostaff Rimfire has good reviews.

Another one that may work is this one

It comes with a free camera.  Just need to check the paralax setting on it to see if it would be usefull.

Scooter beat me to it. I have been very impressed with ths Viper 2-7. It is on a closeout at almost half price. It was well worth the full price.

Ok, I'm back. I'm kinda leaning towards something from Nikon

Anything I need to know about mounting it? The only scopes I've dealt with in the past have been on airsoft guns or pellet guns and I just did that by hand and hoped to god it was on level.

This is what I use:

Please note that rimfire scopes have their parallax (focus) adjusted for closer distances where most riflescopes for centerfire rifles are set at 100 yds.

If a fellow had the cash he would probably be well advised to buy one of these.

After much deliveration I put a Burris Timberline 4.5-14x32 on a .22lr this past year and am very happy with it.  It has AO that you can turn down to I believe 35 yds rather than having the fixed 100 yd setting on most non AO scopes.  It is also sized appropriately for a 22 and is available on closeout well within your budget most places.
