I bought a pair of 6x30s a while back after reading up on here and was just wondering what people thought about the new 8x30s.  I'm very satisfied with the 6x30s considering what I wanted size wise.

I have not handled a pair but I have heard good things about them considering the size and price.  I thought they would make excellent archery binoculars.

I purchased a pair a few months ago right after they first became available. Physically they are identical to the 6x30s. Optically, and as one would expect, they have a few key differences in comparison to the 6x30. Eye placement is more critical and the image is slightly less bright due to the smaller exit pupil size. There also seemed to be slightly more noticeable field curvature, in comparison to the 6x's. Otherwise they offered the same wonderful view that the 6x30s do.

Thanks for the response guys. I read a lot on here, but haven't posted until now.  I've just recently gotten interested in binoculars and use them mostly for hunting or hunting related uses. I realize the Yosemites are pretty much at the low end of the price spectrum, but I was really impressed with the value of the 6x30s and figured I try a pair of 8x30s too if the feedback was good.  Inexpensive binoculars have came a long way since I last bought a pair 20 years or so ago...

From my knothole the two great bargains out there today are the Leupold Yosemite 8x30 (which compares well with mid-upper priced like sized roofs...  FrankD mentioned it as performing comparable to the Pentax DCF-SP) and the Minox BD 6.5x32 IF (which is a real performance gem that is reported to match up well against the old Swaro 7x30 among others) .  I've been extremely pleased with both and readily recommend them.

The Minox scratched my itch for a 7x bin and the Sam 8x30 demonstrates what John Barsness and others have opined with statements like "Cheapo porros beat out some of the better roofs easily in the 'good looks' department for resolution and brightness, and can be had for a fraction of the price."

I could include the Vortex Diamondbacks here too as they perform better than I can hold them.  On the cusp of turning 60 I shoudn't have popped for 10x bins and wish they were 8x42s instead.  Oh well....
