Quick question for everyone ....

I'm just getting into 308 .... I have Lapau brass on the way.  I'll be using 168 gr Sierra Matchking HPBT bullets, Varget Powder, and CCI BR#2 Primers to fire form the brass.

How much powder should I use to fire form .... I usually seat .010" off of the rifling to start.

40.3 grs = 2500 fps,  41.9 grs = 2600 fps, and 43.5 grs = 2700 fps (43.5 is listed as max load in the Sierra Reloading Book)

I know I want to have a reasonably high amount of pressure to fire form it ... just not sure how forgiving the 308 is with .010" of space to the rifling ....

Thanks

I load Honady 168gr Amax with Winchester brass, CCI BR2 primers and 44gr of Varget at an average of 2705fps from a 26” barrel with a 1-12” twist.

This load is very accurate in my rifle and it seems to maintain a consistent point of impact even in temperature swings.
