Looks like these guys have some fair prices for daily charters on halibut and salmon. That's what everyone I know goes there for.

Seward is a good place to fish, not far from Anchorage...if you are military check out www.sewardresort.com, great facility and awesome prices...they have charters available as well but it is better to book in advance and the above link is probably fine.  If you are interested in driving farther, Homer (where I grew up) is also nice, my cousin runs a charter there and I've always caught an 80+ halibut everytime I've gone fishing with him http://www.blazingreelscharters.net/  You can also fish the Russian River just 15 minutes south of the intersection of Seward and Sterling highways...just need fly rod or spin casting setups....river is single hook coho flies only (buy an assortment at Walmart in Anchorage)....recommend waders plus either net or gaff (or quick reflexes).  Anchorage has Ship Creek (right in town), Bird Creek (30 minutes south...on the way to Seward), you can hit Sportsman's Warehouse at Dimond/Old Seward Hwy to check fishing reports when you hit town...Walmart is on other side of hwy....take Minnesota Blvd from Airport to Dimond then north to Old Seward hwy.  Suggest booking charters for halibut...spend days on your own hitting rivers for salmon (you might be able to salt water troll for them if they are running during your charter as well).   Homer has a man made lagoon which can have some great fishing but it is more combat fishing than even the Russian River (have your tetnus shot first)
