Can anyone tell me what the field of view is with the 9000 series Aimpoint when it has the 2X attachment on?  The Aimpoint literature claims "unlimited" but I assume this only applies to the regular 1X models.

Check with the lad's over at Ar15.com, my friend.

I certainly don't know the answer, but maybe Ufriend (here) might. I'll PM him.....

Nothing has unlimited field of view. The Aimpoints  have unlimited eye relief meaning you can mount it back like a regular scope or forward like a scout scope. The cool thing is that the red dot stays on the point where the bullet will hit eaven if you move your head from a good cheekweld to a few inches off the stock. I am not finding an answer on what the field of view width is at 100 yds but as with most 2x scopes it should be quite wide and a good choice for hunting. For Tactical use the EOTech has a wider field of view that the 1x aimpoints which is its big selling point.

A Leupold rifleman 2-7 has 43.2 ft wide field of view at 2x so my best guess 40 to 45 ft wide at 100 yds.

Hi

The FOV on the 2X is a actually very limited, the feeling of looking through it is like looking through a long pipe.

Certainly not a sight I would spend any money on regardless of price.

The 1X aimpoints though have when used right nearly 180 degrees FOV just like all 1X red dots.

With both eyes open the red dot should just be there and the tube should dissapear, and this way the FOV is limited by yourself and not the sight.

Mostly people that likes aimpoints feels like as much as the 1X aimpoints are winners the 2X is a looser.

Regards Technika

Technika, thanks.  Your explanation puts it in good perspective for me.  I think I will just stick with my Weaver K2.5

I had the m2 in the 2x I figured I would get the benifites of magnification and have the cqb style aimpoint.  Nope I absolutly hated it.  with 2 eyes open its like wearing somebody's elses glasses or if you were glasses take one of the lens is out and open both eyes.  Its that bad.  I got rid of it and bought and Eotech.  IMHO I think they offer a better cqb scope than the aimpoint, better fov and I like the reticle a little better than the dot.  It seems to be pretty rugged not sure how it compares to the aimpoint in that department but, more and, more troops are switching to the eotech for CQB style combat.  I hope this helps.
