Looking to buy scope for 7mm ruger #1. To be used up to 1 hr after legal sunset in very low light conditions. Here are the scopes that fit my budget.Would appreciate opinions and comments on my choices. Bushnell 4200 elite 3x10x50 30 mm tube ill 4a reticle, Nikon gold 3x10x50 or 56. I saw the doctor scopes on swfa and have heard good things about ther optics and was considering the 2.5x10x48 or the 56 mm obj. ill reticle, any comments and opinions would be greatly appreciated

the 4200 would be my choice over the nikon, but i dont really know much about the docter optics, so i cant speak for them, but ranburr checked out the docter optics scopes at cabelas, and said they were impressive.

Keep in mind that neither the 30mm Nikon or 30mm Bushnell are any brighter than there 1" counter parts.  Also, a 40mm scope in the same family has the same light transmission of a 50mm (just on a lower power).  You only need a 30mm tubed scope with a 50mm lens if you plan to shoot longer ranges in low light.  The 30mm tube gives you more adjustment travel and the 50mm objective produces a larger exit pupil on higher magnifications.

Consider the Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5-10x40 FireFly

I was very impressed with the 30mm Docter scopes.  I thought they were as good as some very high-end 30mm scopes I compared them to.
