Went to the range yesterday with a friend shooting his Tikka T3 Lite in 300 win mag with brake.  He had optics mounted in the standard freebie aluminum rings that came with the gun.  After about 10 shots, he noticed the pin that holds the ring in position on the rail had ripped through the side of the ring - not good.

That's exactly the kind a' thing that could ruin a caribou hunt in Alaska.  If you shoot a Tikka with the included rings, might I suggest you upgrade to something steel and - well - not crap.

Thats great advice. I had a Tikka T3 Lite in 300WSM, great shooter, but because of the recoil you really need to change to something alot stronger.

That is good to know.  However, all products are prone to failure.  Also, he may have over tightened the rings into place, causing undue stress, resulting in fracture of the mounting stud.  I personally have a 25-06 Tikka, not quite the power of the 300 win. mag. and it has held up well, but also bought some Warne rings to replace those.  So, as you can tell, I am split in the middle about the supplied rings.

Two of my rifles are Tikkas both were Leupold rings. The factory ring look cheep so I never tried them.

it also looks like your friend needs some quality Allen wrenches also!

i have been told to stay away from the included rings from the get-go.

on my tikka's / sako's i use leupold rings and have been nothing but completely satisfied.

good rings are crucial to a successful season in the woods or the bench.

I have owned a Tikka T-3 in .270 for several years now.  I used the supplied rings on my scope and I've never experienced a problem.  My scope needs no adjustment from season to season even though it receives no special treatment.

that's good to hear - i can't imagine anything supplied w/ a tikka T3 would be absolute trash.

my ONLY complaint, and i really don't mind much at all, is the plastic magazine.  But it is light and comfy in my hands, and functions

perfectly.

great weapon.  i will buy another.

I've got a Tikka t3 lite in 270 WSM and that sucker bounces a little.  I used the supplied rings, have put about 100 rounds through it, and have had zero problems.  They have performed flawlessly.

Love the rifle, including the polymer mag and the sub MOA accuracy.
