I'm removing the EOTech 516 on my AR-15 and installing either a Sightron SIIB 3-9x42 or a Vortex Viper 3-9x40. I'll be using either an ADM Recon or Recon-X for the mount. I want the scope centered in the mount, not pushed too far forward or rearward in the mount like you see on some folks' setups. I'll be shooting NTCH (nose to charging handle) unless I'm shooting prone. It's a bit difficult to get that close when prone. Should I be going with the Recon or Recon-X?

Could I get some pictures posted to this thread of the two different mounts with scopes?

Thanks.

Wow, I realized I've been working on this setup for three years now. http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=9828.

I'm hoping to get some input from this forum. Oh, TOS refers to the other site, which is ar15.com.

Thanks.

Welcome to Optics Talk.

I'm sorry, but I haven't seen the mount you referenced, but hopefully, someone here can help you soon.

Good shooting!

From within your link was another link to a page covering several mounts. Unfortunately, ring separation distances for the ADM mounts weren't given.   HERE

I run the standard eye relief mounts fine and can run NTCH

this is my brother with my gun, an ADM scout mount and a S&B 1.5-6
he's a tad off the CH but I can run right up on it, same with a Trijicon 3-9 and Kahles 1.5-6 and numerous others

I have yet to find a need to run the extended mount unless the scope was an extended eye relief
