I was at BassPro Shop looking at rifles and the Savage Weather Warrior in 7mm-08 caught my attention.

Anyone ever use the accustock ? Thoughts, comments, etc?

Never owned one, but held several. Certainly an upgrade to the former Savage offerings. I too have looked at that very rifle, (left handed) and in 7mm-08.

I think it's a good buy, albeit unattractive.

Year ago Savage had a bad rep for being cheap junk, but now all I hear is good things......Geuss I'm stuck in the past and nervous about buying one.

I think it's a better stock than Remington's. You could always buy a non Accustock and switch to another.

If you go this route, try to get a Savage with a top bolt release as there are more aftermarket stock options.

I don't like 'em. I can't help but think they are a Sako knock off and I hate the way they shoulder.

I'm in the minority here. Most guys love them. I wish I didn't feel the way I do about Tikka because they offer a LOT for the money and cater to lefties like me.

C'est la vie

I have a Savage 10 PC with AccuStock.  The PC is a 20" heavy barreled .308 with digital camo stock finish.  I like the stock and the rifle.  It fits well and is comfortable to shoot.  The stock is heavier and stiffer than many synthetic stocks I have handled.  The rifle is very accurate and handles well.  I have mostly shot it from a bench and prone.  While the recoil pad is very effective it is soft and tears easily around the edges necessitating care in moving it in and out of range racks and zipping it into a case.  On a scale of 1 to 5 I'd rate it a solid 4 for functionality.

Tikka is a higher quality rifle than Savage. You wouldn't notice the first several hundred rounds, maybe.

Yep, no question, better quality rifle, but I still won't be getting a "Tikko". Bucky
