I am looking at the Williams FP sight for that gun, and then putting a scout scope on it for when I want a scope.  Then I can have it either way depending on what I feel like doing that day.

So far all of the mounts I have found have been black.  I would like to find a stainless one, but if not then it wouldn't matter what color the scope is.  I like what Jeff did with his Leupy at gunblast and had a turret made for it.

.........................In my `07 Marlin brochure, the silver Leupy scope mounted on a stainless 308MXLR, is a brighter shade than the rifle`s stainless color shade..........Gun metal grey may be a better match........You can also spray paint, with Rustoleum, the scout rail base w/ a dull matching grey or silver color.........Imo, a black scope and black rings, mounted on a rifle with a wood stock and stainless barrel, does not look as good as opposed to matching, as best as possible, the scope and rings to the barrel color.

I was thinking i would go old school, but I would like to put a fiber optics front sight on it if I am going to do that for faster sight alignment. Can't wait to try it out.

Helo,
I scoped my Ruger #1 and have regretted it ever since. I am probably going with "iron sights" but with F/O front sight. I had it (the F/O) mounted for a while but took it off before my last hog hunt because I expected to perhaps shoot out to 400yds. (never saw but one hog, at about 80yds).
There are a lot of lever actions that look pretty good with a scope, but I think it would detract from the rifle you posted. It looks great without a scope on it. Nice.

You might try these guys, if you are intent on scoping it... I have seen a couple of rifles with their mounts and rings. They look nice.

The rings look nice, but I don't see any mounts.  I would like to find a stainless mount if I am going to get a grey scope.

.............Like I mentioned, you may have to spray paint the scout rail base to match as best as possible the scope and rings. I don`t think you`ll find a stainless scout base........I really think that the "gun metal grey" Leupy scout with matching rings will look great and contrast nicely with your Marlin`s stainless shade.............It won`t look as busy as the brighter silver.

i was debating on how the gun would look if I had black open sights and scout scope mount with silver rings and scope.  Do you think that would look bad?

I guess that is what I will go for.  Now, should I go with the Williams FP sights or XS sight systems.  I am also looking at the XS scout scope mount made specifically for the Marlin 1895

....The sight systems depend on your preference. The XS scout rail system, the same used by Jeff Quinn, is long enough to allow you to mount a scope conventionally as well, if someday that is, you get the bug to change to a conventionally mounted scope.....I`d go the XS scout mount from Brownells, the gun metal grey 2.5x Leupy scout scope, with the detachable gun metal grey colored rings to match if possible. I think Leupold will color those rings for you if not readily available.

The gun metal grey will be more elegant and richer looking than the brighter silver.

I think I might have to do the gun metal grey Leupy (will be my first Leupy).  I know I can get that and the XS scout scope mount through SWFA.  I just don't know if I would like the XS sight system better or the William FP with the fiber optics.

...............The gun metal grey Leupy will be your best lookin scope for that guide gun....You`ll like it just fine!.............You`ll thank me later when you take advantage of a 100 to 150 yard shot. An advantage that you otherwise would not have had with just the iron sites alone.............CYA on every hunting possibility!!

The XS is a ghost ring type that has a large I.D. and is very fast.
The FP has a smaller aperture and is better for longer and more accurate shots. The FP also has very nice adjustments and the insert can be removed to have a larger apertured ghost ring. The FP is my favorite for this type of sight.
