You just gotta give Ruger and Hornady some kudos here!...Excellent

According to a recent G&A show that I didn`t see but heard about, Ruger/Hornady is necking up the .375 Ruger to the .416 and apparently will chamber it as another addition to the 20" Alaskan line!! Yep! Just like the Alaskan but with a bigger hole! They will probably do the same to the longer barreled African too.

They should call it the .416 Ruger. That would seem logical!

Another handy & more compact blaster!! What a big game buster that`ll be!........I like it! I like it! Yippee

....................Personally, I`m not interested in a .416 myself, when I already have the .375 Ruger Alaskan. I prefer my longer range capabilities, versatility, as well as the adequate stopping power at the shorter ranges. For the best compromise in both worlds, stopping power and longer range for plains game, a .375 cannot be beat.

However, for those who are in the market for a shorter to moderate range .416 DGR, without spending $2K-$3K and more for other expensive alternatives, a new .416 Ruger (rough it) Alaskan for about $1K is perfect. It will also do the same things, on the same game as the far more expensive .416 rifles.

Ruger is really making a big splash in the DGR market by offering the lesser expensive and just as effective alternatives.

For their recent innovations over the last two years including the RCM`s, my hat is off to Ruger for their rifles and to Hornady for their cartridge designs.

That is for sure, they are making a good combo, those two companies.

I'd call it a .416 Alaska.
