new here! some of the best optics talk ive seen. 7mm mag to be used for 500-1000yds. precision target shooting. was looking at the 8-32x40 bushnell 4200 till i discovered it has only 20" adj range! still considering this scope in spite of this(bonehead). anybody out there can tell im "nutz", stubborn, etc. or with a 20moa base can i get to where im going? 7mm mag shoots pretty darn flat, its got just as much as those 300 cannons, and besides, i might want to change my name!

Good scope, but not a real good candidate for a high recoil type rifle, IMO.

SOME people have reported short eye relief on the 4200 while using the bigger caliber rifles.

20 MOA rail is a real good idea, regardless of scope maker.

Search function in Rifle Scope forum may shed some light on this scope for you.

BTW...What's this "SOME of the best optics talk I've seen" your talking, Player??

This IS THE OT, Daddy..............It dont get better than this.

cheaptrick, ya shot me! I thought i made my pick with the 8-32, looked at all the OT info, my only "stumper" would be miriage on the max power! 6-24 seems to be the most popular but could suffer from this also. my logic was to be able to back down on power to cure some of this, wile conditions permitting i still had 32x on tap. also noted that the "shakes" were amplified on "high" scopes.  NOW, I thought the 4200s were magnum recoil proof! Like 10,000 rnds of .375 H&H  or are you saying I might get some "red eye"! Im hopin this unit at 14lbs will soak up some recoil.

I'm saying that SOME people have reported that the eye relief (distance from your eye, to the ocular lens) is short on the 4200 and MAY not be good for a 7mm Mag or other high recoil unit.

Yes, a 14lb rifle would help in that regard.

Roy Finn is a member here that shoots the 4200 a lot. He seems to be happy with his.
