I'm looking for ideas for a new scope for my 7mm Rem Mag.  The rifle is primarily used for whitetails, mule deer, and possibility of elk if I ever draw the tag.  Shot would range from 100-350 or so, but I'd like to be able to stretch it out to 500 if needed.

Right now, I have a Leupold VX3 3-10x42.  I'll have to say, I'm not impressed with this scope at all.  Right now, I'm considering the Meopta 4-12x40 or maybe even a Nikon Monarch 2-10x42.

I don't like the Zeiss Rapid Z reticles because of the light duplex reticle (dotted lines).  The Swaro is a bit pricey, but I would budge if I needed.  Maybe on the Z3 3-10x42 with BRX reticle or I even saw a Z6 2-12x50 on Samplelist with a BRX reticle.  I was leary of the Z6 being on my rifle thinking it would look too big - I don't know though.  I'm leary of the Bushnell because I like to buy and trade them (more frequently than I should) and I'm leary on the resell of the Bushnell.

Your thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

I thought about the Zeiss Conquest 3-9.  It'd be nice to have a bit more magnificaiton, but not necesarily required.  The 3-10x44 would be okay I guess.  Wouldn't the Meopta 4-12x40 be better than the Conquest 3-10x44?

Never looked thru a Meopta but a Zeiss 3.5-10x44 with a Z-Plex (Heavy Duplex) reticle should be the ticket.

i dont mean to be a dick, but even at 500yds an elk is a big target on 9x. for less than $500 i find it hard not to have the conquest as a front runner in consideration for a new scope. monarch's are pretty nice, but their cs dept is hit or miss. i have a 4200 elite that is currently sitting on a .300wby, no issue with it. i had it on my .375H&H last year, and it performed flawlessly.

i just put a 3x12x56 diavari on my 7mm a bolt; fits perfectly.  Buying the high end swaro or zeiss should end your need to trade and swap this particular scope. (nothing left to trade up to)

The rest of the fore mentioned scopes are good and very capable of meeting your hunting requirements (i own each of the brands and like all of them; just had to satisfy my "are they really that good" quest with the diavari).

For me when I make the price jump from the bargain priced 3-9 Conquest the next step up is the 4.5-14 probably in a used one on Samplelist.
