Putting together what I want to be an ultra accurate side charging AR. Got the upper, LAR side charger. Going to put a shilen select match barrel on it bedded to my receiver. Originally had planned on straight 223 but this 6x45 has me intriqued. Highly recommended especially for a paper puncher which will be the 90% role of this rifle. The other 10% would be critter gitter up to whitetail and maybe a pig if one showed itself while I had it out. Anyone else use/used this round? Thoughts on it? Uses all 223/556 are parts except of course the barrel. The 6mm bullets buck the wind better and no special mags or parts to buy. Neck up 223 cases and your set pretty much.

I have not had any experience with the 6X45 (6mm-.223) but have had many years of shooting with the 6X47 (6mm-.222Mag) in a Rem XP100 made into a rifle. My bullet of choice was the 70 gr Sierra bullet with H335. I had good results up to 300 yards plus at the range. For varmints I used the 60 gr Sierra HP. Now that bullets like the .224 Hornady 75 gr Amax and other 77 gr. are made I don't know how both .223 & 6X45 would compare in the wind except that the 75 gr .223 loads would need to be single loaded.
My rifle had a 1-12 twist and I never used anything heavier than 70 grains.

I have a 12 twist coming. Hoping the 68 grainers will fly good for me.

A buddy of mine used to shoot one at one of the tac-comps I shoot at. I believe he ran 85gr. bullets with good success all the way out to 1100 yards. Now he runs a 6x47 bolt gun (necked down 6.5x47 Lapua) with 115 DTACS, and has one the yearly points championship 2 years in a row.

If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

I've been back and forth with AR's I love the feel, follow up and portability but never got the constant accuracy I wanted at distance. This round is suppose to help that. The guy I'm getting the barrel from and doing the work said with good reloads his 12 twist barrel at 200 yds produces .5" groups.
On a side note, I'm going to rebarrel my sps tact from 308 to a 6.5 round, either 260 or 6.5x47 lapua

I am also going to do that on my 300wsm. I figure I can get all the ballistic advantage by running a 260, with 140's but have 2/3's less recoil. I am planning on keeping the WSM bolt-head and barrel, just in case the state of AZ ever decides to give me an elk tag again...
