I really don't care much about having the illuminated riticle of the Vortex 6x-24x Viper PST. What I want is clearity and brightness for target shooting. But I like the tactical turret feature of both. Comparing 6x-24x apples to 6x-24x apples, does anybody know which one of these two scopes would provide a sharper and clearer image?

BTW; If any of you guys are also considering buying a Bushnell Tactical 30mm scope and care to know; I do already own two of the discontinued 1" tubed 6x-24x Bushnell 4200 Elites, and also one current production 6x-24x Bushnell Tactical Elite scope with the 30mm tube.  (all are the side focus models) The 1" bodied scopes have clearer and sharper images then the 30mm tactical scope. I'm more impressed with the Tactical Bushnell's compact size, tactical turrets, and decent price then I am with it's clearity. ( but the 1" Bushnell's optics I like a LOT!)

In this case, I would have to say that Bushnell has a slight upper hand with clarity.

But if you are looking for the best in the category, I would take a serious look into the Sightron S III. I was throughly impressed with what they have accomplished with the S III.

I would agree with Skylar, and pick the rather boring-looking Bushnell. Not only for the clarity, but also for the durability of the elevation knob. The 4200 series are often used by Field Target shooters, who adjust up and down for each shot. Individual Bushnell 4200 24x and 32x scopes have withstood multiple thousands of elevation changes, all with exacting repeatability. If you will be adjusting for elevation a lot, then the 4200 scopes have been proven in this regard.
