Which trajectory is this new round closest to, that of 5.56mm or .308? I want to mount an Elcan on a Barrett M468, but question which base should be used, 5.56 or .308?

The round is ballistically similar to a .223 69 gr. BC of .35 shot at about 3200 which is difficult in AR type rifles but easily done in a 26 inch winchester or Remington (compressed load of Varget or 25 grs of 2200). This set up with the mag. modified to accept the longer round duplicates 308 trajectories of the 168 gr. HPBT at 2600 fps.

i have the SOF magazine with the article in it about it, and the tests they did showed it was more accurate than the 223's, and 308's they tested it against.

Cory, you are right the M468 is very accurate and I think it is going to be an excellent rifle for me. In response to Manuel, I am considering mounting my Elcan on the M468 because I want the best of both worlds. I want to be able to engage targets at a close range and also further out, the Elcan is much better suited for this than the Eotech or the red dot type sights. The problem is that the Elcan uses a BDC, Bullet Drop Compensator, which work works great, but is calibrated to a specific caliber. The other great thing about the Elcans is that the scope itself can be interchanged between the caliber specific bases. Which I guess put's me in a win win situation if I can figure out which one the 6.8 Remington is closest to. As we all know 5.56mm and .308 maintain almost the same path out to 300m. I know there has to be a rocket scientist out there somewhere, I'm just an old grunt with a B.S. from the UofA, ROLLLLTide. Thanks for the responses.
