Not sure how old this is, but there is a nice article on Rifleshooter.com:

"The Long-Suffering 6.5"  thought it was good reading.

im ashamed to say it, but right now the 6.5rem is a better shooter and it will out run my .264 with a shorter barrel, but it isnt as popular so buying brass for it sucks at times. until i can come up with a kick ass load for the .264 the 6.5 with 130 gr nosler accubonds and a stiff load of imr 7828 lays em right in there, i took the rib and sights off mine and put a 3x9 monarch on it and its nice gun to take into the woods, lam stock so i can bang it around get it wet and its no fuss no mess no biggy you know. right now they are giving the 673's away too. get them out on gun broker

pyro I have been eying that gun for awhile now I really like the look of it for one yet the caliber is also intriguing I assume you have no regrets?  How is the recoil?  It sure seems like it would handle well.

I wish that I could get the 350 rem for the price of the 6.5

its kicks a little but the laminate stock and heavier contour barrel eat up a lot of it, i have been shooting 120gr and 130gr bullets with 60.5 gr of r-19 and imr 7828 and it kicks like 7-08 id say.

I had to go the different route. I now have a Winchester model 88 chambered in 6.5 Panther - done before Remington legitimized this round as the .260, and my fav - a pre '64 model 88 punched out in 6.5x.284. with 26" barrel . Not many people appreciate what can be done with - as well as the utility of - the good 'ole 88 .

I really dont need the gun(673 6.5 rem mag) to fit any need as I have a 25.06 and a 270 wsm and a 7-08 and a 7mag but I can buy it otd for 545 which include the transfer and shipping  I wish the 350 rems could be had for that price.

It is up in the air between that and a fairly nice 788 in 223 right now.

if the 788 was a 22-250 or a 6 mm there would be no questions about it.

I love that 6.5 Remington magnum, I don't have one YET but I will! I think that I love it so much because it's Daddy is my favorite cartridge, the 350 Remington magnum.

i will tell you this buying brass for the 6.5 can be a pain in the arse, its spendy and so far the quality of the remington brass in that particular caliber has been awful, i have had to anneal all of my brand new cases before ever firing them, otherwise they split the neck.

Nosler sells ammo for the 6.5 R.M. Do they have their own brass for that or do they use Remington brass?
