I should have my Grendel build ready to shoot by March. My primary use will be something geared toward Tactical. Realisict uses will be poking paper from between 200 and 600 yards. I want to keep the option of hunting deer in mind as a 3rd purpose. I am leaning towards the SS MOA 6X42 Tactical. Any suggestions for a scope newbie?

Budget? And if your budget allows I would lean more towards a SS3-9. Also check the sample list.

Thanks, I will look into it. I am on budget so far. I had planned on the $300 mark for the SS 6x42 but if I am under budget or near at the end of the build I will put it in the scope. The scope will be the last thing I buy.

SS 3-9 if you can afford it. Would rather have the 3x on the bottom for the occasional deer hunt. If you can't swing it then the 6x would work but I would go mil/mil rather than mil/moa. Makes the target portion simple... If you are hitting 1 mil low per your reticle then just dial one mil up on your turret. You can also work up drop charts in mil and you now have the option of either holding off with your reticle or dialing correction.
We measure it with a micrometer, mark it with a crayon, and cut it with a chainsaw.

If you can save for it, either the SS 3-9 or SS 3-15.  I put a 3-15 on my grendel and think it is a great fit for what I am doing.  Shot two deer with it already, and have shot out to 600 yards with it.  It is a great shooter.

After much deliberation, consternation, gnashing of teeth, self-recrimination, I've probably, maybe almost decided to get the SS 1-6 for my Grendel.  With the short barrel, I believe it is the best solution for my requirements… CQB with ability to utilize the range of the caliber.  It is not exactly what I want, its mil/mil and I want MOA/MOA, it is a little short on the high end, but it is perfect on the low end and the other stuff is "wants" vs "must haves"…
The glass on this scope is superb and I love its fast acquisition.
