Hi kinda new here been reloadjng a few years but still a beginner. ok in  the hornady book they useahornady/frontier case wlr primer. with h4895 starting load is 37.4 max is 43.7 with a max velocity of 3600 fps. online i found a site for guns & ammo mag that used a rem case cci 200 primer with a starting load of 41.5 and a max of 45.7 gr. 2 gr. higher with a max velocity of 3844 fps. I've heard velocity & pressure run hand & hand so to speak. every gun I load for I have a different case than any of my manuals seem to have so how do I figure. another thjng is if a powder isn't listed in the same burn rate range that you want to try how do you figure starting and max loads.    THANKS  CHIPPER  ps dont know how that Hippieemoticon thing got on there & dont know how to get it off

first off, dont worry about what case the books use, secondly the hornady manual is on the conservative side of the scale, the lee 2nd edition is probably closer to what the web sight shows, work your way slowly to max and everything should be fine. check with the manufacturer of the powder to see if that powder can be used in your rifle, check www.reloadersnest.com and see if it helps you out

I can't get anywhere on reloaders nest, sooo slooowwww or page won't load at all. I have the lee 2nd edition and their max for h4895 is 42.7 gr. with a max velocity of 3718 fps 1gr. under what hornady list. I know max isn't always most accurate & I know manuals are conservative iv'e worked up to a little over the book on a 222 but wasn' sure how far I could take it to see if group came back together. at what increments do you add powder when neer max .1,.2 .3 gr.

if you have a 1-10 you wont be able to accurately shoot anything less than 90 and anything more than 100gr, to shoot all the small stuff you would need a 1-12 1-13 1-14 they have a lot of load data on the 100gr if you click that link i provided.

ok thanks haven't stot it much yet just having fun in the garage making up some test loads.all for trying the heavier bullets. that second site came up alot quicker. been to that site before on the old computer but it seems some of the recipies leave something out bullet type, velocity, accuracy, ect.

if you know the weight and maker of the bullet and the weight of the powder charge and the powder type, you have all the info you need, just be careful about hot loads posted on that site.

Stick with the book loads and work up carefully.  It is not wise to extrapolate charge weight from burning speed.  To be honest some of your questions concern me a little.  Don't deviate from the books........and yes, case brand DOES make a difference.

There are a lot of 6mm cartridges.  I assume you mean 6mm Remington?  Be careful how you ask questions.  Be very specific, or you may get well meaning but VERY INCORRECT data.
