Its a high end Leupold. Leupold & Stevens.

I think this would be what you would get comparably now:
https://www.leupold.com/hunting-shooting/scopes/mark-4-lrt-riflescopes/mark-4-lrt-16x40mm-30mm-m1/

I could be wrong.  It might have been restricted to LEO/Military purchase.

If you google it, you will find some stuff I cant look at at work :)

Also, check this out if you want, some stuff on Mk4 history and descendency from the UlLTRA line.

Quote
OK, this will take a little history lesson, and I'm going to try to be as brief as possible -
The fixed power Leupold MK4 series (10x, 16x, and once upon a time 6x) are offshoots of the 10x Ultra scope that Leupold built for the US Army's M24 SWS (Sniper Weapons System) project. After several changes in the scope and a name change the MK4 10x M3 scope is still in use on the M24 sniper rifle to this day. The fixed power MK4 scopes are often referred to as the "real" MK4's because they retain the original mil-spec parts and build qualities as opposed to the variable MK4's which are basically rebadged Vari-X III's. The fixed power scopes feature main tubes that are almost twice as thick as their variable cousins, have stronger internal mechanisms, and are said to have improved shock resistance and sealing properties. At one time the fixed power MK4 scopes incorporated higher quality glass including a more advanced lens coating, but I'm not so sure that the differences are that much today.

I broke a few Mk4 Ultras in my day, which is why I laugh when people tell me those were the strongest of the leupold line.

A McMillan 50 BMG is a nice gun, but it shoots 5 dollar bills.  Just FYI.

Killed more than 1 MkIV.
Put one on an M21 and fire a few hundred rounds.  You and the Leupold repair folks will be on a 1st name basis.

While the MkIV series is a decent scope, I'd put an old school SS 10X on it and not worry about breakage or loss of zero. Give the savings to your wife and she'll think you're a gem.
