I just picked up a 90's Redfield Scope called the     Redfield Ultimate Illuminator. What can you guys tell me about this Denver made old cool redfield ?

  Well,I can remember that line scopes being in the upper tier of American made scopes.  Seems they were liked by those who had them. Came in a BEAUTIFUL oak box to.  BUT I can't remember a 4x56 being offered.  Can't even imagine one being offered.  So could you PLEASE post a pic for us?  If you can't for some reason I'll PM you my e-mail address and I'll post it for you.

4x7= 28 so any objective larger than 28mm wont do a lot to help you as far as low light brightness.

I seem to remember that one of those Illuminators was a 4X Humongous scope.  I bet you can see in the dark.

   Well it took me awhile but I found some info in a 1990 Gun Digest.  It's mentioned in the new scope review section but is to new to have the specs listed in the back of the book.  4x56 w/30mm tube.  The author says it's a 13mm exit pupil.  They also introduced a 3-9x56 that yr. There's a pic but if you've seen an 8x56 you've seen this 4x56.  That's about it.
