I'm picking up my 460 today.  8-3/8 barrel, plan to use mostly on deer. Want to add a scope.  I have been looking at the 2-7x32 Burris & 2.5-8x32 Leupold. What would you recommend?  Is the posi-loc and advantage for this monster?

Either scope would be fine, although I prefer the Burris.  I use this scope on a Freedom Arms .454 and it works great.  I don't have posi-lock and never felt I needed it.  My .454  probably has more ft.-lbs of recoil than your .460.  The .460 has more muzzle energy, buy my pistol is a lot lighter than yours.  The 2-7 Burris works great up to about 5X, which is plenty for shooting 100yds.  After that, it's kind of hard to see through.

mwyates,

Thanks for the info.  A couple of people have recommended to stay with a 2X and keep away from the variables.  I know that a fixed power has the advantage of quicker target acquisition due to a larger FOV.  I also know that most shots will be withing 100 yrds.  My thoughts are that a 2X would be great on a shorter range caliber, but it may limit the capability of the 460.  I had been hunting with a 6.5" S&W 44 mag; the long range ability of the 460 is the reason I purchased the gun.

I agree with the FOV on anything over 5X.  I expect I will set the variable at 3X for most use.  I wish someone was still making a 1.5-4X;  I think that would be ideal.

I've said in quite a few post before, the Burris 2-7 is a much better choice, even if you never take it off 2X.  The 2X is a great scope but the 20mm objective peters out when it starts to get dark.  I speak from experience.  I had a 2X before I got a 2-7.  Believe me, you will find 3X and 4X very usable with your .460.  The extra brightness really makes it worthwhile.
