I had a SS 1-4 on my 450 Bushmaster and liked it very much.  Given the ballistics of the round its not much after about 250yds to 4x was perfect for me.  A scope that might be worthy of a look is the new ss 1-6.  Sightron also has a SIII 1-7 out that may warrant a look.  I'm hoping to get one soon for a test and eval.

I had a swfa 1-4 on mine, liked it and traded it in on a 1-6 in June.
Waiting somewhat impatiently on the one one.  Mine is a Mid-Length A4 Operator.

Check your eye relief!  I have a .458 socom, and while waiting to decide what scope to use, I just wanted to get out and shoot it.  Mounted an ACOG on it, got it bore-sighted, concentrated on the X-ring, took the slack out of the trigger...

OWW!

Next thing I know I have the imprint of my safety glasses on my face...

I'd recommend a good 4" or so of eye relief.

I'm well aware ACOG's are intended for NTCH on a .223, and have short eye relief, but dang, that thing kicks like a Mule!  I haven't shot it in a while, but I'd say it's quite a bit more than my .308 AR.  For mine I like low mag optics, A la 1-4, 1-6, etc.

Enjoy!

Some ACOGs have more eye relief than others.  Was yours by chance the TA31?

Good point, I tend to think of and talk about ACOG's with the 4x .223 models in mind, but they have a huge line-up with many different options & designs. One of the .308 models or something may make a sweet addition.

Mine was either a TA31F or a TA01NSN, I've owned both (& loved both) but can't remember which one gave me the owie.

The 31's are very short,  I've had one, used it on a grendel and that was almost to much.
