Here is my question.  If the 4.5-14X50 cost the same amount as the 6-20X50, would you buy the 6-20X50?  I am putting it on my A-Bolt Stalker 270 win.

Would the optics be just as good looking through the 14 power on each, or would one be better?  What is the downside of going to 6-20X50 other than price?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Field of view or close range.  To me a 6-20 would be a varmit rig.  Hard to get a fast shot. I also tend to get my day off in bad weather, so to me this would not be a good cloudy day scope. I would also look at the weight and how it would balance on the gun.  The 6-20 is not something I would want to climb hills with or work in brush.

Also for the same money are we talking same brand and line of scope?  If not then we are comparing apples to oranges.  I would not move down line for more magification. Magification without clarity is a waste of money.

Thanks for your thoughts.  Its a Zeiss Conquest question.  Both Zeiss scopes.  To me, I just want the best scope.  The difference in money is not my issue.  I will deal with that after I get the facts.  Which i obviously do not know-the facts.

I looked at FOV via their web page, but it is hard to tell, since one starts with 4.5 and the other with 6 power.  I wonder if FOV at 6, is the same on both scopes, it seems close.  And is optical quality the same.  I know several friends who are "anything over 3-9 is a waste".  And others who put 6-20 on just about everything.

I live out west, so long shots are often a possibility.

Thanks again.
