Ordered a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44. Its going on a Remmy 700 with the heavy varmint barrel. Trying to decide Between a pic or weaver base. would like to know the pros and cons of both. What hieght of rings will I need for the 44mm while keeping the scope as low as possible?

If you go with "tactical style" rings, like Badger or TPS, low rings should work. Get a picatinny rail, instead of a Weaver.

Thanks CT. TPS was my first choice. That word "should" worries me. If i go with a TPS 1913 base with low TPS rings it will work?

TPS rings and bases, and lows will be fine.  Possible you may get away with super lows.  Call swfa for verification
