I found a Simmons 44 Mag 6.5-20x44mm scope w/ an illuminated mill dot reticle on another site for $99.97 How does it compares to the 6.5-20x50 Whitetail Classic at $99.95 on this site?

I've had both at one time or another. The MAG is the better of the two. Save your money for a little bit and buy a Super Sniper. It's 10 times the scope for only $299.00.I have a number of Simmons 44Mags and they won't hold a candle to the Super Sniper. Best money you'll ever spend on optics.

I guess I ought to be more specific.  I'm shooting varmints with a new .223 and I'm looking for a scope.  I happened to find these two, they seem similar but I know there have got to be some substantial differences between the two.  I don't need a mil dot, or illumination--i can't order the 44 mag without either of those two features.  BTW, I'm not willing to spend $300 on a scope, especially since that's more than I have invested in the rifle.  Matter of fact, I'm not willing to spend more than about $100.

I think you answered you own question... I have a number of 44 Mag scopes without mil-dots and 4 with. If you can live with the dots, you'll love the scope. I've had them on everything from custom 10/22's to Police Sniper Rifles.

Thanks.  I guess I'll go with the 44 mag on the competitor's site since noone else can compare the two--and since I doubt Chris will cut me a deal, lol.

BTW, how long does the battery last with an illuminated scope?

Don't under estimate these folks at SWFA, you should ask Chris... These are good people, nothing to loose...

That battery will last for a very long time if you use it for what it is. Don't do like ME and forget to turn it off. Around my house it lasts about a day or so.  ( I've got C.R.S. ) So, I quit putting batteries in them.
