I have a Bushnell 4-16x40 Elite 4200 on a long range bench rifle and love it. But I recently purchased a match grade rimfire and want to mount an elite on it. The thing is my wife gave me a budget this time. Last time I went to buy the 4200 we had to eat mac and cheese for a week. I want to downgrade to a Bushnell 5-15x50 Elite 3200 which is cheaper which is good... for her... I dont want to be disapointed after I buy it, I know its not going to be as good as a 4200 elite but i was hopeing you guys can tell me in 1-100 scale versus the 4200 and how good is it compared to other alternatives under $250. Also what is the Light Transmission on the 3200? I know the 4200 is 95%.
Thanks a bunch, Good Luck! |

You wil certainly see the difference between 3200 and 4200. That having been said, Elite 3200 is a decent scope. There are other scopes in a similar price range that I think are better optically, although I am not sure how close they can focus (something you can look up pretty easily though):
Burris Fullfield II 4.5-14x40 Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 You may also consider saving some money and putting a Mueller scope onto this rifle. They have several inexpensivemodels that would work well for a rimfire and have glass similar to Elite 3200. ILya |

I think you can see a very noticable difference as well and the 4200's are more durable scopes as well (recoil tested to 10,000 rounds vs. 1000). Ligt transmission is approx. 91-92 percent on the 3200's. Don't just consider "light transmission" figures either. The 4200's have higher resolution which is equally important IMO.
