If you're interested in a used model, there's a 4-12 Nikon for sale on samplelist.com.
Should be a lot a bang for your buck.

thanks for suggestions - nikon buckmaster at 24 oz's and almost 15inches doesnt appeal..any thoughts about bushnell trophy 4 x 12 vs Aetec?? like aetec 4 inch eye relief & aspherical lens........or is the extra $120 worth investing in the elete 3200 or weaver classic V?????????????  really appreciate this chance to get some feedback-thanks guys.

The aetec  doesn't come close to the 3200, (astigmatism and panorama on high power) but if that Nikon is a Monarch get it fast, nothing comes close (at that price).

I'm interested in the train of thought that buying something used means buying someone else's problem.

Considering optics, if getting something with a lifetime warranty, then if it turns out to be a dud, send it back for repair or a new one.  That's my philosophy anyways.

When it comes to vehicles or other items, I make sure the amount I save is more than enough to justify a few repairs.  It leaves more money in my pocket or more left over for more toys!

Sometimes buying new is worth it though....just depends on the deal.

SampleList items are thoroughly inspected before being listed and if by chance we miss something you simply return it for a full refund.

That Nikon sold almost immediately and was a super deal.  You snooze ya lose.
