Can anyone explain why this scope doesn't have an adjustable parallax ?
From all the positive feedback on this scope it must work well . But, how does it work so that it is focused at multiple ranges. And what is themax range the Parralax is set for.

This may be a scope 101 question but its not making sense to me.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm getting ready to order another scope and it will either be the 3-9 or the 6×42 MQ.

You don't need it on the 3-9.   Or I never have.

I think really you start needing adjustable after about 12X as a "general" rule of thumb

You weren't issued a parallax knob, because you don't NEED a parallax knob!!!

Went through this on my hunt for a rimfire target scope.  For hunting applications, parallax knob is unnecessary and not particularly practical within normal hunting ranges (250 yards).  Just another knob to worry about.

Exceptions are for long range where higher magnification is required and rimfire target rifles at 50 yards using centerfire scopes.  I prefer some type of parallax adjustment or side focus on these scopes where I typically have more time to set up the shot.

Expect parallax on the SWFA SS 3-9X is set for 100 yards.  Typical for most centerfire scopes, except for European manufacturers that are set for 100 meters.

Scopes of moderate magnification have enough depth of field to make finetuning image focus largely unnecessary unless you only plan to use this for target shooting.

The one exception is close range (think airgun) distances where to get the image to focus you need to either have an image focus adjustment or go to the lower magnification.

Perceptible parallax error with moderate magnification scopes is comparatively small, especially at extended distances.

I have two SS 3-9x42 scopes and I have used them out to 800 yards or so without any issues.  That having been said, the new 3-15x42 is a better precision scope if you are looking to shoot small groups.

The 3-9x42 has wider FOV and better contrast, so it is likely a better hunting scope.  Both are quite good.

The 3-15 is neat in that you can adjust the parallax down to 6 m (~20 ft). Great for indoor dry-fire practice. But the 3-9 is a bit lighter, has lower knobs and is usually what I prefer for a hunting scope with the capability to dial in shots out to greater distances. Both are fantastic values in FFP scopes.

OK. Thank you all. This scope will be used for hunting and precision shooting. But primarily hunting. In the winter. . With my 10 x I have to adjust the Parralax to focus and while I can get a very nice view of the target at a certain range. Ifthe range changes quickly, animal at a closer or further range its not focused. . You guys already know this no doubt.
My concern is how well the Parralax ring will turn in really cold weather.
With the 3-9 I get the use of the ranging reticle And not having to adjust the P if a fox hangs up at 300 or if it shows up at 20 yards. . I can wet the power on 6 and have both covered.
