Some of you guys may remember when I built this rifle about a year ago, and then damaged it. Because I was stupid, and in a hurry, and loaded it with the wrong powder. Well, she is back together, and had her first range session today. Need to do some tweaking yet, but it looks like she's going to shoot. Just started load development.

Here are the first shots. 1 shot at each charge from 87-93 grains to check for pressure. On shot 5 of 7 I screwed the suppressor on and changed the poi a little bit. But still about an inch.

Next I loaded 5 each of 93, 93.5, and 94. By 94.0 it seemed to be coming in. I'm going to play with the seating depth some and see if I can make it come in, but by the end it wasn't terrible.

Then I shot 5 of my own custom lathe turned solid bullets at 88.5 gr. And came up with this. Not bad for no load development.

I love these bullets!! You can't buy them....... yet. But the day is coming. Soon.

What sort of powder did did you try first?  I've aquired a Savage 110 BA and am going to be trying building some loads for it.  I'm thinking Retumbo as I've heard good things but just curious if you don't mind sharing your learnings with a rookie.

Good shooting there, Jason.  Glad to see you got it all put back together.

I started with Retumbo. I load it in several other calibers and had good luck. So far its giving me good velocity, single digit sd's and es's. Vital for the ranges I'll be shooting this thing.

That excellent shooting.  That's what I'll start with.  I've heard go that Berger VLD's work good in those rounds.  I do like the Bergers in my 6BR XP 100.

Thanks

The last group fired. The tightest one was shot with a Badlands Precision ICBM bullet. A 310 gr. lathe turned solid. They're not on the market yet, but will be very soon. So far they've shot better than anything I've tried.

That is pretty impressive. Time to stretch the legs and see out to 300 + what is happening.
