Hey,
Going to do some target shooting with a 17HMR at 100 meters, and was wondering if there is really a big difference between these scopes. I know that the 3-10x40 is a compact scope, but does it make any difference? The price difference for me is 7 dollars, so which one would you recommend, and why?

On a second question, would either of these scopes be good enough to see the 17HMR bullet holes at 100 meters?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

For $7 more, I'd go with the 3-10 personally.  I mean, why not?

My only concern was that the compact(shorter) scope may not be as good. IF it is just as good as the 3-9, then I will definitely go with the 3-10.

Sometimes compact scopes compromise the eye box slightly due to the shorter tube length. Don't know what to tell you there except it would be best if you could look thru both scopes. In lieu of that compare eye relief and FOV with the two to see how they compare.

I think that I will go with the 3-10. The FOV is a bit bigger than the 3-9, and that eye relief is a bit longer.
Does anyone know anything about the bullet holes? Will 17HMR holes be visible at 100 yards through a 10x scope?

That says it all, black holes on a white target background should be no problem. One of the color splash targets like the dirty bird would also work. In the black I doubt it very much. Enjoy your 3200!
