Hello fellow shooters, I want to buy a good hunting scope for my Remmy model seven magnum.  I have about $800 max for glass.  Does anyone have experience with the Conquest 3-12x50?  How about the Kahles?  I have several conquests in different powers and love them all, but have never owned a Kahles.  Thanks!

Both are great scopes, but the Kahles is better glass and rated a 9 on the optics scale. The Conquest is rated a 7.

kahles is better - kahles C is one of the best scopes made, IMO.

conquest is still a very very good scope.

Here's a link, don't forget about the search feature, it's very useful for finding more information.

Sorry I don't know how to hyperlink, anyone feel free to tell me how.

Looking at the sample list, there are some great prices on Kahles. But does these scopes have a warranty? My understanding is that Kahles does not have a tranferable warranty, where the Zeiss does. Kahles warranty is for the original owner only. Warranty is a big deal when you are paying alot for a scope.

Been through this before, if Kahles just says that you have to have a warranty card on file and that the warranty is not transferable to keep the flood gates from opening with scopes.  If you call them they will welcome you to send your scope in, they don't want a black eye.  They are owned by swaro, swaro's CS is known for being top notch so don't worry about Kahles.  Yes, scopes off the sample list are under warranty, the Kahles I bought off the sample list even came with the factory warranty card.  Also, SWFA guarantees all of their products, sample list or not.  Look at their policies, buy with confidence from swfa, just call and talk to them you will see that they have their sh*t straight.

I have used both. Today only Zeiss (own a Swarovski 4-12x50 that is in my gunsafe in its box). Kahles and S&B scopes are sold. So Zeiss is  IMHO a very good one to choose.
BTW I would rather choose a Leupold than Kahles.

depends on your application, Leupolds are very application specific they do have their uses.  If you want a hunting scope and want to be able to see anything, Kahles and Zeiss are light years ahead of Leupold.

Chance,

I just bought a kahles CL off the sample list a couple of days ago and had the same questions about warranty as you did.  I called kahles CS directly and they told me that if you're missing the warranty card from the box (an all the CL's that the guy at SWFA looked at for me were missing the card), you can fill out the warranty registration on their web site and they treat it like the warranty card from the box.  That is to say - you should be covered under the warranty as long as you're the first owner and as long as the scope is bought from one of their authorized dealers.

btw - she asked who I was buying from and I hardly got "SWF.." out before she said "SWFA?  Oh yes! they're definitely one of our dealers - great company!" .  Gotta love the unsolicited endorsements!

Wow - none of my Leupold VX-III's have ever come close to one of my Kahles scopes.  On ANY parameter. Don't mean to start an argument, to each his own, etc, but jeez, thats not even a contest!
