I don't think you need a scope for a 30-30 for but if that's what you want to do. look at something that is a low power wide angle in the 1-4x 32. or even a 40mm objective. There are a few nice ones that can be had. What kind of a budget did you have in mind?

.......................I don`t know what your price range is, but it is essential that you maintain as much handling speed as possible in target acquisition and aiming.

Using the right scope, you can keep that rifle as quick handling as the iron sights.

Along with good optics, your 1ST PRIORITY, is to maintain as much handling and aiming speed as possible. With that stated and in order to do that, you need a wide FOV and the capability to keep both eyes open while acquiring your target and then aiming.

For 10 to 100 yard hunting in closer quarters, there will be no better scope for your rifle than the Weaver V3 1-3x20 which is priced at $150.

While many prefer the 2x7`s and some the 3x9`s with their objective bells, imo, THAT defeats the purpose of a quick handling 30-30. Their FOV`s are less and their acquiring and aiming speed time is greater and paying more for those scopes in the process. You can certainly pay more for a scope and mount the wrong one or mount a less desirable on your rifle.

Stick with a lower powered variable (STRAIGHT TUBED) scope, no greater than a 5x on the high end. In reality for your needs though, a 5x on the high end is too much.

For a 30-30 cartridge, for work at 100 yards or less, there is no better variable power than a 1x3.........For the best value for the buck, great Jap glass, the 1-3x20 Weaver V3 is absolutely the best and ideal choice for your rifle..........WinkWinkWink....

Leupold makes a 2.5x20 fixed that would be good, since you have some close ranges.

I'm with Squeezer on this one, although I've never looked thru one of those scopes, he has just convinced me that it is a great choice for a set-up like you are describing.

30-30?  10 yards to 100?   For bear?

I will presume this is a Marlin or Winchester lever action rifle.  It might be a Savage/Stevens or Remington bolt, but not likely.

You don't need a scope.  Go with a receiver mounted aperature sight and a glow front bead.

If you are going to hunt bears with a 30-30 you want the largest heaviest scope you can find or better yet a 6 D cell flashlight that way you can hit the bear with it when the 30-30 wont stop the bear.  This is a prime example of USE ENOUGH GUN  and while 45-70  or 30-06 or larger is enough gun 30-30 is NOT.

Something in the 1-3 to 2-7 range is just right.  I have experience with a Leupold 1-4 shotgun scope on a short rifle, and I like it a lot.  It isn't the brightest scope around.  The heavy crosshair is a good thing.
A fixed 2.5 power would be fine, too.  Mine is often set about there.
You might browse the shotgun/muzzleloader scope forum.  Same scopes that work there will work on a 30/30.
