I really like mine!!! The only bullets I have shot enough to judge yet are 178gr. AMAX's. The only powder I have used so far is IMR 4350, and CCI #250. The rifle is a Savage model 11 with a detachable mag.

I am now trying some 150gr SPBT Speer and 150gr. Sierra Pro-Hunters and some 180gr.Speer Magtips that a buddy gave to me when he switched to all copper bullets for his .308.

I have a Winchester Model 70 Sporter III in 300 WSM. Got it new mid 2006. One of the last of New Haven's. I was afraid there might be some problems with the last ones put together. No such luck, it's sweet.

I took a lot of time with the barrel on the front end. Don't know if I needed to or not. First 20 shots went down the tube without a scope into the side of a hill over a 2-3 month time frame with cleaning and all between shots. Sure didn't hurt anything at all. Sweet.

Cartridge wise, I really feel it will be around a long time. I haven't got around to reloading for it yet. I haven't found a factory load yet that doesn't shoot well through it. Knock on wood.

Hope you find what your looking for.

My only complaint with my set-up is the stock. I been looking at replacements, but just haven't come up with the funds yet.

300 wsm is good. Load it down to a hot 30-06 or up to just under a 300 win. Shooting alot of 190 and 175 smk moly, 1400 rds later no cleaning--started with h4350, but reloading manuals show lots of choices. -- and they say chrome lined barrels aren'r accurate.

Would a Tikka seem like too light of a rifle in 300 WSM I may go buy one because I know they are accurate but its rather a light profile compared to most of the rifles I shoot. I dont see many rifles in Iowa chambered in 300 WSM but it looks like it would be a dandy choice to reload and play with.  I've shot some 168 Molly AMAX in a .308 with good results but anything molly coated is hard to find here too I havent seen molly bullets since I last saw Fed GM primers that about a year and a  half.

I have a light profile 300 magnum, and like it very much......although it's not much of a bench gun. I bought a heavier bench gun, and the ultralight gets relegated to hunting duty.

the wsm i had was in a browning aboltII composite, the gun weighed 6 lbs, and with the scope and that it was still only about 7.5lbs, it let you know when you touched it off. i found a limbsaver recoil pad helped a lot. if i would have had a lead sled 5 years ago i never would have gotten rid of it.

I have an FN SPR in 300 WSM. As far as the rounds I shoot, and for the loads my guns seems to like, see the below.

178 gr A-Max.  Been shooting this one for a while (6 years). Shoots very well in my gun. I use 65 grains of RL-19 with a velocity of 2920 FPS. For my gun this round consistently shoots .5 MOA (better when the shooter does his part:-))  Unfortuanately, these rounds are hard to get right now :-(

185 gr Berger VLDs.  I loaded 66.5 gr of RL-22 and achieved velovities of 2855. This round and load allowed a 2.6" group at 1000 yards at nearby Quantico VA.  OAL was 2.980".  Had to load individually (vice in the BDM). These rounds are available, but for most of my shooting, these rounds are cost progibitive (40-plus dollars a box).

175 SMKs.  Loaded 65.0 gr of RL-19 with a velocity of 3026 and a deviation of 17 FPS.  Still playing with this load. May slow it down a bit so I don't burn the barrell out so fast. I like around 2900 FPS in this gun. These rounds are easy to get and not near as expensive....Time will tell.

Bear in mind that my FN SPR has been re-barrelled by the guys at GA Precision.  They put a 28" match barrell and a muzzle brake, as well as blue-printed my bolt/action. They made this gun a real tack driver -- and it was great as a factory gun to begin with. Aside from GA Precision's work on the gun, its been glassed, as well as a trigger job (2.25 pounds), so these loads may or may not work in your guns.

Mind those SAAMI limits and reloading maxes advertised for the various cases/guns. Good luck and safe shooting.

I have the savage weather warrior 300 wsm and I like it quite alot! only used factory ammo so far and it really likes the new winchester power max! recoil is pretty stiff. I had a tikka t3 lite in 300wsm and recoil on that one was bordering on NASTY. Fantastic caliber though...I think you will be very happy with it!

SmileI like 168 Hornady BtHp's for varmints & targets and 168 Barnes Tipped triple shock's for hunting both with 67.5 grains of RamShot Hunter with either CCI 250 or Fed 215 primers, Win brass
