_popupControl(); I recently purchased a 300 WM rifle for Elk hunting.  Any suggestions for commercial ammo that would work well for my purposes?  I don't reload this ammo and I need to figure out what off the shelf loads would work well.

Any factory load that has 180 gr Nosler Partitions would be my choice. I like Nosler Accubonds as well and they tend to shoot a little better than Partitions.

I would try several weights of Federal  and Winchester ammo and see what groups best in your rifle. The Nosler and the Barnes MRX are both great bullets.

Used to shoot Hornady 165 grains in mine before I started reloading. Always had pretty good luck with them. Also, as previously mentioned, any of the loads with Nosler components should shoot well.

I shoot Hornady Heavy Mags 180gr when I am not reloading and my gun really likes those rounds.  Any 180 gr load should work ok.  You will just have to try different brands and see what works best.

Just one note, if you are hunting Elk in California, I believe they went lead free. If that the case, start looking at loads with Barnes TSX's. They are excellent as well.

Ditto on TSXs, the 168 will kill any Elk that walks the earth and shoots a bit flatter than the 180

The new winchester mx3 ( I think thats the name of it) ammo is nice. I would go with the 180gr.

When I got my Sendero in 300 Win Mag I tried 180gr BTSP, 190gr BTSP, and 200gr SP, all factory ammo.
I found that the Federal 190gr BTSP gave the best groups in my rifle of the ammo tried. I couldn't tell you how it would perform on game as I use this rifle to punch paper, and bang steel.
