What are your favorite loads for the 300 Win Mag? Also is anyone here familiar with the competition seating die that Redding makes if so how do you like it and how does it work?

Lapua brass, Fed. 215, 180 BT for Whitetails, 72 grs. IMR-4350. I can get a little more velocity with H-4831 or IMR-7828, but for accuracy and velocity, IMR-4350 works best in my gun. If I'm heading north for big whitetails, I'll switch to Accubonds same weight.

Whoa, I just realized I was demoted from "Deer Slayer" status.

180gr. bullets I'm with Roy, IMR-4350 and some rifles seem to like RL22.

Mine liked the 4350 better.

U-frnd,

I use the Redding competion seating and bushing neck sizing dies and I love them.  The comp seating die has a micrometer style thimble on the top of the die with vernier in 0.001" increments, allowing you to really fine tune your seating depth for ultra accuracy and repeat that depth from batch to batch -- in a rifle capable of realizing the accuracy improvement -- which rules out most hunting rifles.  Unless you are using it for competition shooting, you won't gain any meaningful advantage over a standard die to justify spending twice as much.

I've had best success with near max loads of IMR4350, H4350, and RL22 in my .300.

Good call. Sierra's are always accurate for me and H4831 is my favorite magnum powder.

pyro6999:

I had forgotten about IMR 4831. Very good results.

Been a while since I loaded for a .300 Win mag.

The rifle is as follows: Custom GAPrecision GAP7000action 24 in heavy barrel with muzzle break dark green metal. Stock is Accuracy International folding with detachable 5 & 10 round magazines. Badger Rings Leupold Mk4 10x M3 scope with cam for 190 SMK in 300 Win Mag. So the rifle will be set up to shoot 190 SMK but I might shoot some other weights out of it also. George promised it would be a one hole gun and our old friend here"Dilligaf" is painting the stock MARPAT woodland marine digital so maby he will post us a photo of it when he gets done painting.  I had to wait for about 9 months to get the stock chassi from Tac Pro.,  the scope I was one I robbed off my .308

Rifle is designed for Counter Sniper / Executive Protection.

Thanks

Just off a whim i went and bought some federal power shock shells at the local wally world for 13.00$ a box to play around and belive it or not they were awsome shell not sure of the fps  but i know i shot a dip can well a few at 200+yards consestantly like 17 out of 20

They might be a cheap shell but they were working good that day.

i shot the cheapo superx win out of mine for a while to build up my brass collection so i could reload they worked pretty well, then i started dropping sierra bullets on top of my 4831 load and at our range we had a piece of 3/4 thick drill pipe from the drilling rigs it was probably 10" diameter and roughly 18-24" tall and was placed on the ground @500 yards, i would put my crosshairs just on the top of the pipe and squeeze one off then quickly pull the ear muffs off so you could hear the ping as the bullet struck the pipe.
