OK, I'm getting a .300 whisper, which will be used for mostly subsonic/suprpessed fire. Using a 220 grain .30 bullet and being spot-on at 100 yards, will result in a 33 inch or so drop at 200 yards.
I need a scope that has a bullet drop reticle that will get me spot on at 100, 150, and 200 yards or so.
Would one of the new Leupold VX-3 scopes, a 1.75-6x32 scope with a custom reticle do the trick?
Are these good scopes? I'm used to Zeiss, but they are a lot bigger, heavier, and I can't get a custom reticle.

That should be a very good scope for your needs, if you can get the reticle you want.

I called their custom shop today and they said for $70 they could make me a custom reticle and install it - that seemed like a HELL of a good price!

I would check with Sightron. There is a gentleman (name escapes me) who sent me an HHR reticle chart for calibers and bullets. I'd give them a call first.

Well I went with a Pride Fowler 3-9x32 FFP with .22LR ballistic drop reticle - apparently has a very similar drop to the .300 subsonic.
Going to mount it with Warne QD rings and then I'll use a Zeiss 2.5-8x32 scope or Weaver Classic Extreme 2.5-10x56 illuminated for the 16" upper.
The PF is so far a pretty good scope - a little fussy on proper eye relief (not a lot of wiggle room) but the optics are pretty clear and I like the FFP reticle.
