I was lucky enough to win a 3oo weatherby vanguard deluxe at a NWTF  chapter meeting, it has a engraved floor plate with NWTF 35th aniv. and is a numberd gun that they made 2700 of for NWTF .  I was wondering if i should shoot it or just keep it unfired as a collector. Any idea on its value. Don't really need another big bore rifle to shoot cause i won a 300 wsm savage on a NRA raffle three years ago and it shoots fine, could use somr trigger work though, the trigger on whyb. is excelent though.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Weatherby makes a very good product.  Though in approx. 3 decades of shooting and collecting I can't recall Weatherby Rifles being sought after for value over use.  IMO if you don't need or want to shoot it then keep it cherry; I mean becuase it was won you made out 100%.

As for 300 Weatherby; I own one and it is a very capable round...

I would go ahead and shoot it--I don't think people are standing in line for collectible Vanguards. If you don't need it, sell it and get something else.

You sure made out good, however....I never won anything!! Wink          --Ed
