McMillan Tac-50

Done!

A friend once asked me, "What the hell do you shoot with a 50-cal?"  I responded, "Whatever the hell I want."

That would be mighty rough on squirrels  and other game that comes in the single serving size.

How do you save lead barking?  I thought it was to save the pelts!

I guess I forgot about the possibility of the 12 gauge and the 22lr.  What 3 centerfire rifles for NA if you already had a 12 gauge and a 22 lr?

the lead, which was expensive and difficult to find, could be recovered from the tree trunk or limb, (remember they were shooting lead, no jacket) and melted down and reformed into another bullet.  There was actually very little loss.  Saving pelts was secondary for small creatures like squirrels.

As much as I love the 7mm-08 and .25-06, I have to admit, that would probably be the most flexible trio if one was forced to only own 3 centerfire rifles.

But, I've become so fond of the .204 Ruger lately that I might select it instead of .223 as my go-to varmint cartridge.

AH never thought of that!  Makes good sense.  But you would have to bark at an almost perpendicular angle not to skim the tree and ricochet the bullet.  Since lead was not an issue with me I always tried to shoot at the most oblique angle possible and literally lift the bark from the tree under them.  My bad!
