ok now i have been thinking of getting a new rifle to go along with my 7mm wsm, and use it for deer hunting only, i was trying to decide between the 7mm 08 and 270 win, today at work i was talking to a guy about hunting, he happened to mention that his wifes dad who just past away left him several guns one of them being a brand new never been shot Browning X-bolt 270 wsm composite stalker, which is exactly what my 7 is, i know that it is pretty similar to what i already have, but he said that he would sell it to me for $450.00, which is $250.00 less than i could buy it brand new, should i take the deal and just get 130 grn bullets and kill deer with it or not?

I would buy it too. I shot a .270 wsm for a few years, and it is a beast caliber. Anything within 600 yards was dead. (with the right practice, of course) Even with 150 gr. bullets, at 3150 fps, it packs plenty of punch for any deer out there. I had planned to take mine elk hunting, and wouldn't have been scared to shoot elk out to 400 yards, with a good 150 gr. bullet, but it's been replaced with a .300 wby. 130 gr. bullets at 3250 would make a very flat shooting deer rig. I'm probably the odd one here, but I'd take the wsm over a 7-08....But I'm kind of a speed freak.

Buy it!  I bought one not knowing anything about the caliber beforehand. I love it. It has close to the same ballistic curve as a 22-250 but with a lot more punch with 130 or 140 gr loads.

Buy it!

I've been using a Weatherby Vanguard 270wsm for about 6 or so years.  Gun shoots about any bullet I throw at it.  140 grain does a great job on whitetails.

Do not buy it, the caliber is a dog and rifle is low quality, send me his telephone # and I will shame him for offering you a bum deal.

I ended up not buying it, he offered it without checking with his wife, and she told him he could not sell it, well it would have been nice, but instead i went an ordered a Browning X-Bolt 7mm 08 today, it should serve me well for deer hunting.
