I have a mark v accumark stainless with the 26" fluted barrel. I was considering selling it to get a 270 wsm yes or no? I do not currently load my ammo but within the year hope to be set up. The accumark is heavier and about 3" longer & roughly 150 fps faster. Not looking to shoot over 400 yards. Gun will mainly be used on whitetail but also a once a year elk mule deer trip.

im not trying to sway you here, cause ive owned the .300wsm and i  still own the the .300wby. If you are going to reload then why not stay with the wby? you could always cut the barrel down to 24"....

my other thought is, why not a 30-06?

After shooting the the wby I'm no longer considering switching the wsm. I have my faithful browning 30/06. After shooting my deer rifles the other day I've decided that my 30/06 and the wby will be going to Colorado in 8 short weeks. So you like your wby pretty good? Of all the wsm's the 300 & 270 seem to be the most popular.

I've got an Old Whitworth 7mag that shoots really nice as well as a browning white gold med in a 264 win mag. I need another deer caliber like I need a hole in my head. That being said I want another deer caliber lol. I think I'll just hold out until I find a good deal on a 270 wsm or whatever I'm in the mood for at the time. I've given thought to a 340 wby as well as a 338 win mag.

Lol no, I only mentioned the 338 win mag  & the 340 wby for elk or moose. My 30/06 & 7 mag has been my whitetail go to gun for years.
