Man I wish I wasn't so totally strapped for cash or I'd jump with both feet!
I've got 3 crossfires and love them. Great for 300yd paper punching and I'm sure further just haven't had the chance to try it...yet. Also great for paire gogging and long distance varminting!

That is pretty much the whole Viper line save the 3-9x40. Wonder what is going to replace them.

I called SWFA and found out I'm first in line, but it could be three weeks before it is ready to ship.

It's possible they are having supplier problems like we are at Black & Decker. I've spent the better part of the last two months performing tests on alternate materials and new suppliers cause almost all the suppliers reduced capacity several months ago and are now running out of residual stock. Its an industry wide problem right now in electronics as some foundries shutdown and other reduced capacity. This is actually the second wave of a ripple effect that could take 3-5 years to recover from!

Such is a common problem with goods produced over seasor even a lot of domestic companies today. It's like when you find a pair of nike's that really feel good to you and you wear them out, good luck finding a pair just like them. I've had problems in the past where my old bushnell binocs had the rubber eyecup dry rot. You can call in the model # and s/n along with pics and measurements but the pair you finally get will almost certainly not fit like the originals. That's one of the reasons I still like Leupold because even if they are not the very latest cutting edge they have a nice product and they have the history to go with their life time warranty. I wish Vortex the best as they had some seemingly nice stuff to offer. Hope this doesn't mean what was alluded to in budperm's post.

Well, crap. Yesterday I thought my scope order was in stock and I was good to go, but I just got an email from SWFA saying my 2-7x32 BDC is on backorder with no "expected by" date.

The Viper would be a great deal, if you can get it SWFA said they are on backorder for 10 and so far they have 3 orders to fulfill so don't sweat it you'll be among the first to get it when they ship. But who knows when that when will be.....
That's why I broke down & ordered the 3x9 SS. Yes it ended up costing me approx. $300 more but it's one hell of a lot of scope for $500.
