I am looking to trade in my Pecar 3-7x for a newer scope, possibly a Nikon Monarch, for my Sako Forester .308.  I am hoping to sell my Pecar for around $200-300 on either Ebay or Gunbroker to end up close to the purchase price of a new Monarch.

Problem is, I just discovered that my Pecar is a 26mm tube, as are the Sako scope rings, which works out to 1.023 622 0472 inches.  Is that close enough or am I also going to have to get new rings as well?  I suspect the latter but wanted to be sure.

Also, are there any other scope brands with 26mm tubes?  Maybe I can make a trade.

Thanks,

Steve

Ok................I have a theory............

Why can't a person use the Burris Signature rings ( with the little plastic inserts...) if he wanted to mount a 26mm scope?  The Steel ring part is 30mm....the inserts bring it down to 1 inch....if you crank it all the way down.  Why can't you just tighten it up to grip the scope and stop before you begin to crush the scope?

Anybody??

I have made 26mm rings work by lining them with grip tape- the kind you would apply to a boat or boat trailer. Never had a problem with the scope maintaining zero.

Mounted a 1" scope in 26mm (1.023 Weaver) rings one time.  Even with rings tightened all the way down the scope was still loose.  Thats when I noticed the different markings on the rings.  Oops.  I would defeinitely buy 1" rings.
