I have my eyes on a custom made rifle made with a FN Mauser action, Apex barrel and beautiful American walnut stock with excellent figure in a 260 AAR caliber.  From what I can gather, this stands for American All Around, that was designed by P.O. Ackley from a 7x57 and is one of three cartridges he developed from that round.  Problem is, I cannot find any information about it, with reference to the ballistics and so forth.  As it is a 6.5mm round, I am sure that it will be accurate, but before purchasing, I still would like to know more about it.  The rifle comes with reloading dies.  I am not sure if this is the same cartridge as the 6.5x57 or if you can fire form brass this brass to AAR.  Does anybody have any information on this cartridge?  Thanks guys.

I have since learned it is essentially the same as the 6.5x57 Ackley Improved.  I looked at several sites including the one you mentioned and cannot find the dies.  I e-mailed the fellow selling the rifle and he necks down 7x57 cases and fire forms them and uses 257 Roberts cases and runs them thru a 260 full length die and fire forms them.  Plus, he say he has lots of shells.  Has anyone heard of Apex barrel makers?  He says they were in business during the 60s and 70s, but believes they are out of business.  He honestly states the rifle shoots one inch groups at 100 yards, no bull about 1/10 th inch groups.  The rifle is gorgeous and the price is right.

Dolphin,
Is there any way you can take a pic of the rifle and post it?

Here are the pictures of the rifle.  If you search long enough, you can find them on the web.  I trust the frequent fliers on this site, but did not want to post the IRL, as occasional viewers might want to scoop it up.  Tell me what you think.
