I got these in an email, there were shot this season in the Henry
Mountains in Utah. Just staggering how big they are, especially the
first one.

No Offense Supertool, but do you know these people?
Those look like photoshopped elk antlers on whitetail deer. Holly Crap!!!
If those are real, they are very impressive!
In the third picture, the deer has no body... Edited by Trays 7940 - December/08/2009 at 13:49 |

they blend in that well with the sage brush, it looks like blood in the bottom left corner of the picture. thats why a good pair of binos and a spotter are essential gear when hunting mulies. i too as i was starting to scroll down was thinking elk rack on the first picture, but look at how far behind the deer the guys sit, it gives the illusion that the deer is a lot bigger than it is. we had jackalopes in wyoming too. somebody actually made money off of post cards and head mounts etc on that. Pyro, I see what you are talking 'bout in the left hand corner. It's just funny the way his head is sitting in the brush though... I don't know, but I wouldnt mind taking a trip there sometime.

I don't know them personally. A guy that works in another one of our
branches does though. I assure you they are real mulies. They grow
them big on the Henry Mountains. Probably about the best unit in the
state.
Elk antlers on a white tail deer, you need to come out West and see a real deer. Here is another angle so you can see the body better. |

growing up in southwestern wyoming i found some dandy shed antlers and also saw some very nice mule deer, popeye included. and those are some real brutes for sure. those are no brainers for a wall mount. i lived not to far from the area where bucks like pop eye and lumberhead lived.

I have not been lucky enough to find one like that. As soon as I can I
will be putting in for that area, I would love to hunt the Henry's.
Here is my biggie, he looks like a pipsqueak compared to those big boys though. |

Come on out, I cannot guarantee anything though. I have a hard enough time finding deer for myself to shoot. |

NO kidding!
Is that the one you posted a photo of a couple years ago, the day of the kill, Jason?
I kind of remember we had a thread going debating how high he might score, etc.
The shoulder mount turned out great!

Yep, that is the one Ron. It was a year or so after I killed him though. But we were talking about the scoring. IIRC I measured him about a 182 or 184 or something. But that was the first buck I have ever measured like that so I don't know how good of a job I did. But I would say he is somewhere around a 180 deer.

I think you must be fairly close. If I recall, I didn't think at the time that he was quite as big as he now looks on your wall.
Great buck regardless of score, at any rate...
