Does anyone have experience with the leupold 20x50 gold ring compact spotters? Im shopping for something to use on backpack hunts to tell if a spotted deer is a buck and maybe a good buck. I dont want to be able to count points or score him just to see if its worth a hike to get a closer look. I want to keep cost as down as much as possible so im looking at used equipment.

THanks

Yes, I still use my 25x all the time.  Very tough with good optical quality while small and light enough to slip into a day pack.  I easily see .22 caliber bullet holes at 200 yards.  These were also made without rubber armor and a cross hair reticle was an option.  I believe they also have the Leupold lifetime warranty as well and they work great with a window mount or short tripod on the bench or prone.  Mine is always in my vehicle and has survived bouncing around in thee Jeep CJ/TJs.  After almost 20 years of serious use it is still going strong and not something I've ever considered needing to be upgraded.

Thanks rainman.  That says a lot.  Is there any other spotter I should be looking at in the sub-$300 range? Thanks
