Hello everybody, New guy today. Got a question for you. Recently purchased an 1891 Argentine Mauser in decent shape. There is a 2 Centavo coin embedded in the right side of the butt stock. Anyone know the significance of it? Searched the web to no avail. Also anyone have a downloadable manual? I see Numrich has a parts list, but no manual. Thanks!

The 1891 is a well-made and beautifully balanced rifle.  Be aware that you are dealing with really old metal, though, and a design that it is not as strong as the '98.  While working the bolt normally on an 1891 I inherited, the bolt knob came off in my hand!

Happily, "Something Wicked This Way Comes" wasn't happening at the time.  Thanks!

That happened to me too.
I've received a carbon steel ball of the correct/original size that I've have welded on.
