whats the best way to center my .17hmr...and what sort of distances should i be looking to shoot vermin at...maxium????

I'm not sure I understand the question about how to center? As far as maximum range, they will kill a prairie dog size vermin out to 300 yds, but have very little energy left at that range. I have been sticking to 200 yds on live critters.

what way have you your scope set to shoot things at 200yards....is the rifle shooting dead level at that or are you having to aim above them or what?

I have a BDC dial on it. I zero for 100 yards, and dial up for longer ranges. The knob is marked with the ranges out to 300 yards. Looking at a ballistic table for the load you are shooting should give you the come ups out to 200 yds.
