Has anyone tried the Barska 17 hot magnum scope? I was considering getting one for my CZ 17 HMR. I want a scope with an adjustable elevation knob. I know Bushnell, BSA and Cabelas all have 17 hmr scopes with adjustable elevation knobs. Recommendations are appreciated.

I have not tried the Barska scope. Most no actually all of the Barska scopes I've seen are not very good. I'd lean to the Bushnell or maybe the Cabelas model (havent seen it) BSA is also known for low quality scopes.
I've heard a rumor that Burris is coming out with a scope designed for a .17 hmr which would be great maybe someone could confirm that ????
You might also want to call the store here at SWFA their staff is very helpful and if you describe what your looking for in terms of price, type of shooting ect..they may offer different suggestions/
Good luck AC |

Might I suggest Cabelas Pine Ridge 6-18 X 40?
It is a great scope for the money. I have a Savage 17HMR and I can drive a ragged hole at 80 yards with this scope. I was borrowing my father-in-law's Leupold varmint scope until I could afford a decent scope. I couldn't wait any longer plus I recently had an accident and we needed the extra money for bills. So I spoke ot a friend of mine who had a Cabelas sample of this scope and he sold it to me at cost. First off, Do not expect Swarovski clarity, but I do actually think that it is more crisp than my Simmons white tail classic on my Marlin 30-30. I have not had any parallax problems although it does have a shorter eye relief than I was expecting, so that took me a bit to get a good cheek weld. As far as the drop compensator is concerned, I have never been a fan of them. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that the markings on the dial were within 1/4 MOA on most shots, with the first shot zeroed at 80yds. I sucessfully knocked over an empty can of beans at just under 140 yds using this zero and the bullet entered almost dead center. I am highly impressed with this scope. I own several high end scopes (gifts ) and I still think this scope is great... can you tell I like it ? |
