Has anyone used the 15X or 12X (say 50 or 56mm) Binoculars for long range viewing/hunting?  If you have, are they significantly better for low light than the 10X42's?

Good question.  I have used the 15x58 Minox.  They work well, but they need a tripod or a really stable resting spot.  I did notice a difference in performance over 10x42s.  I am not sure if this was due the binos size and magnification or because of the ED glass in the Minox.  I don't think a 12x50 would offer any low-light advantages over a 10x42.  And I think that a 15x50 would probably not offer as good of performance as an equal quality 10x42.

I hunt with a friend who uses and loves Steiner Senators instead of a spotting scope-He uses a monopod instead of a tripod for versatility.

Brady,

Do those go for under $600.00  new?  If they do, I am very interested in a pair.
